Loves Me--Loves Me Not

It seems that the person arranging the daisies in the bud vase became distracted. Where is the woman who was pulling off the petals of the daisy and saying, "He loves me. He loves me not," as the petals dropped on the polished sideboard one by one? Is the old photograph an image of her? Every detail of the painting suggests Victorian days. Even the wallpaper speaks of posh elegance. The frame is hand-painted with light-blue daisies on a dark blue background. The painting hangs by a gold-tasseled blue cord from a blue heart that conceals the hook. (Original)
