First Flowers of Spring--Forsythia

Daffodils, Crocus and Forsythia all proclaim the coming of spring! Like a spot of sunlight, the profuse yellow blossoms of Forsythia brighten the yard, even on a cloudy day. The heavy dark table contrasts with the yellow streamers spreading outward from a pretty vase that is almost hidden beneath. The ribbon keeping a reader's place in the book and the elegantly crocheted table runner seem to pop from the flat surface of the canvas, as if you could enclose them with your fingers. The painting is in a custom-painted frame. Even though it appears to be carved in relief, the frame is actually as flat-surfaced as the canvas. The painting hangs by a brown tasseled cord from the brown heart that conceals the hook. (Original)
