Past Their Prime

The garlic is losing its freshness. Some of the cloves are sprouting slender green stems. Like the garlic, the old two-handled jug has seen better days. Chips reveal the inner beauty of the mottled blue clay from which it was formed. In the artist's hands, every object in this little gem of a still life contributes its own beauty to the composition. Framed. (Original)
